Olympic experiences

Sylvie Bernier’s name is well known in the world of sports in Quebec and in Canada. She is the first Quebec woman to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games in any sport and the first female Canadian to win Olympic gold in diving. And she is still the only one! The first Olympic medallist to be named chef de mission in 2008 for the Canadian delegation, she took part in 11 Olympic Games as a commentator, chef de mission or assistant chef de mission from 1984 to 2016. She has made a remarkable contribution as a volunteer with the Canadian Olympic movement.
